Cuomo V. Paladino: Environmental Issues

I choose environment as a topic for the election because I thought that they have some idea related to economics. Paladino wanted to do the Marcellus Shale. He believes that drilling for new resource provides opportunity for new jobs. On the other hand, Cuomo wanted to make sure that New York was clean, and wanted to find other resource that are not expensive. He opposed the Marcellus Shale. I would stick to Cuomo’s idea because New York’s Marcellus Shale needed to be checked. Although Paladino has a good idea about the project, there was some doubt where it can be expensive.

Andrew Cuomo vs Carl Paladino on housing

Andrew Cuomo and Carl paladino have a rather different approach on housing.  Andrew Cuomo believes that that discrimination has a lot to do with housing.  Andrew Cuomo stated” discrimination is alive and well in America today”’.  He also said "In life and society, you will never solve a problem you're unwilling to admit," Cuomo said. "We don't want to admit that we discriminate." I agree with him because many landlords do not give housing to certain people because of their race, ethnicity or religion. Single woman and young parents are often told that a building doesn’t want to rent to families with children. That is considered illegal under federal, state and local housing laws. Over the last few years, the attorney general's office has conducted more than 200 tests in neighborhoods around the state. Trained testers, some black and some white, presented similar income and career profiles at apartment complexes and recorded the treatment they received. Andrew Cuomo is going after lawbreakers in the housing business, and he plans to fix the housing process in every neighborhood in New York. Carl paladino blames Andrew Cuomo for housing bubble. He held Cuomo individually responsible for the housing bubble by pressuring the Federal Housing Authority and housing finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to promote greater home ownership by reducing mortgage standards. He blames Andrew Cuomo for all problems faced in housing. I would agree with Andrew Cuomo about this topic because he actually has a solution to this problem. I feel that Carl paladino is basically causing a bigger problem rather then giving a solution. I chose to research about this topic because I feel it is very important to everyone loving in New York. There are many people that have face a problem with their landlord, or even getting an apartment. I fell this issues should be taken seriously. I believe Andrew Cuomo will be better for New York.

Paladino vs Cuomo on Abortion

Abortion has become a huge issue in the United States over the last couple years. Women have become pregnant at such young ages that they are unfit to care of their children.  I think abortion is a good thing  because I think women should have the right to give their children a good life. New York Governor candidates Carl Paladino and Andrew Cuomo both have different views on Abortion. Carl Paladino is against abortion. That is because he practices catholic and he doesn't believe in abortion. Andrew Cuomo is for abortion and supports the bill for abortion. The reason why i chose this issue is because it is so controversial and it's happening to a lot of people. I also feel for the people who are unable to reach their lifetime goal because they have to take care of a child. I think abortion should be allowed because i think children deserve the best life possible.

Gay Marriage.. Cuomo vs Paladino

Gay Marriage is a controversial issue that has been debated about for several decades. Gays have been stripped from their rights; they can not marry, they do not get benefits and many other rights. The pro gay marriage side argues that gay marriage is just a life style and ones decision whether they should or should not marry. The anti-gay marriage group feels as if it is unconstitutional for homesexual marriage. Republican Carl Paladino is completly against gay marriage and he even states that he felt discusted when he seen the gay pride parade. Does New York need a governor whose against gays getting their rights which they desereve ? Democrat Andrew Cuomo argues of giving gays their rights, which is a step closer to equality. Once blacks and women did not have their rights, but both partys fought strong to acheieve their rights; if we have a governor whom disagrees with giving gays their rights, it is taking a step back from equality.

paladino vs cuomo on job creation..

Democrat Andrew Cuomo has a better idea on how to fix the issue of unemplyed New Yorkers for many reasons, mostly because his plan makes sense opposed to Paladino whom only plans to reduce taxes by ten percent and state spending by 20 percent, without having and plan behind it. Candiate Andrew Cuomo propses the idea of giving buisness which hire a unemplyed New Yorker up to three-thousand dollers in credit. He also hopes to reduce the high costs of state buisness and attempt to expand small buinsess. Cuomo is trying to lower the energy costs as well.

cuomo's plan oneducation

Andrew Cuomo is considering an educations plat that encourages charter growth, funding cuts. Andrew Cuomo said he would require charter schools to increase their enrollment of special education and English learning students.  He focuses on improving efficiency of education spending by reducing mandates. We do not like his plan because his education platform is vey weak. There have been many criticisms about him being to close and backing charters, more testing and the de-professionalization of teaching.  It is clear that Cuomo is comfortable with unlimited expansion of charters in urban districts. Carl paladino does not want unlimited charters. His plans are similar to Andrew Cuomo’s plan but they each take their plans of success a different way.

Paladinos plan for the future education

We feel as if Paladino's plan for the education system in future is solid and would help future generations have a higher percentage of graduates going to college. In his past, he helped many poor school such as St. Luke's Mission of Mercy School which many poor and homeless students attend; he raised millions of dollars for the school. Paladino desires to extend the school year and school hours in which teachers teach. He wants to expand the mathematic and science subjects for all students. This gives students the opportunity to comprehend the subject better. One of Paladinos best proposals is to make sure that all religions get treated the same in the school system, which creates equality. Paladino also wants to change the law from NY state only being allowed to have 200 charter schools to 500 charter schools, which gives more children the opportunity to enroll in a charter school. We feel as if his plan would change the education system for the better and increase the graduation rate.

How to reduce unemployment?

I think Carl paladino has a better idea of how to reduce unemployment. New York is one of the worst states in America for business. According to Carl paladino’s website he is a businessman, not a politician. “He employs 450 people and his business has created work for thousands across New York.” I believe that he has more experience in the business field than Andrew Cuomo. Carl paladino has created hundreds of jobs. His plan is to create jobs by cutting taxes and by cutting government spending. He also plans to create a atmosphere that promotes economic development and job creation by rescinding onerous labor, environmental, tax and commercial laws and regulations. I think he will reduce unemployment better then Andrew Cuomo will.

Governor's Plans for Future

Andrew Cuomo's plan is basically about programs that motivates people to go to jobs. Also, these programs allowed worker to stay hired for one year. I though it was a strong idea because worker get fired quickly. More so, people get alienated from finding jobs. I believe that programs that motivate people would help people find jobs.

Paladino vs Cuomo on Job creation

I think Andrew Cuomo has better idea of how to reduce employment then Carl Paladino focusing on Job Creation. I think he would have more success if he was governor in that area just from him being part of the democratic party. I think since he's for the people and job creation is one of his five points he will do a better job than Paladino. Andrew Cuomo said repeatedly that he will give businesses 3,000 dollars in tax credit. Doing that will increase financial success in our poor economy. He also wants to increase economic development and reduce high costs of businesses. He also wants to reduce taxes . He thinks paying high taxes wouldn't resolve the economic crisis we are in. I think Paladino says good things by saying he has created jobs for thousands and wants to cut taxes, but  I don't think it'll be the first thing he'll do as governor. He mentions how he will like to change the education system and wants to fix problems such as welfare and abortion.

Plans for NY economy...

Both candidates Andrew Cuomo and Carl Paladino have various plans as to how improve New York's economy. Republican Paladino insures New Yorkers that he will cut income taxes down 10 percent, which causes manufacturers to become interested. Every area of New York needs a different plan thus there is no New York plan, argues democrat Cuomo. He feels as if each area should have their own strategy therefore he would put Mayor Robert Duffy in charge of the economy.

1) Although both candidates have similar websites, Carl Paladino's websites provides far more information as to how he will address certain issues and his plan for New York is well organized and explained. His plan is divided into a few sections; taxes, spending, jobs, medicaid and reform.
2)Candidate Carl Paladino's website compared to Andrew Cuomo is far more attainable for many reasons. Andrew Cuomo mostly gloats about his achievements and success stories in his website while Paladino provides his readers with a plan for several issues, such as how to lower taxes and lower to unemployment rate.
3) Based on their websites, i feel as if Paladino is more qualified to become the governor because he has a clear plan for success and ideas in how to fix our economy.

Paladino/Cuomo Websites

Here are the results about the candidates' websites:
1. Paladino's website seems to have some more information than Cuomo's website, on his home page he give almost the entire information that the reader would want.
2. Cuomo's goal is more clear than Paladino. Apparently, Paladino's goal was attractive with his plan to cut down taxes however, most candidates in the elections tried attracting people. Today, people are more afraid of these hypes.
3. I think Cuomo would be more like a true candidate because he focuses directly about  how to improve the the government. It looks like he is confident about his goals.

Paladino's Ideas vs Cuomo's Ideas

On Paladino's website he was very concern about the economy, he wanted to cut down the taxes.
On Cuomo's website Cuomo has five agendas. Most of his agendas was related with New York where he wanted New York to be improved.
What I heard that most news website that it looks like Paladino is going to loose the election because its seems that Paladino would not keep his promise. According to Robert J. Duffy, he says, “that Mr. Paladino’s actions do not match his words.” (newyorktimes.com). I beleve this was true because usually, canidates who promise agendas such as lowering taxes, they would not fully fulfill that promise. About Cuomo, he would lose too if his promises was not fulfilled. Paladino a says to Cuomo "Come out and debate like a man."  as if Cuomo has hidden any secrets. Other wise I thought Cuomo would be a better choice despite the fact about his multiple agendas. At least he did focus of how New York should be improve the economy.

New York state economy

Each candidate has a rather different approach to fix New York’s economy. Democrat Andrew Cuomo, the states attorney general says "We must make New York the jobs capital of the nation and get unemployed New Yorkers back to work". He believes that we must use a new strategy to replace New York’s ineffective economic development efforts and he believes that high costs of doing business in the state should be reduced. He also plans to give businesses 3,000 dollars in tax credit. Carl Paladino plans to cut taxes and spending by ten percent in the first six months of his administration and cut spending by a total of twenty percent in his first year. He also plans to require a super majority of 60% of both houses of the state legislature in order to raise any state taxes. Carl Paladino says "My government, when we take office, will be expected to take a pay cut and we haven’t yet defined how much that might be". I think Paladino presents a better solution to the economy. I believe this because he looks at solving the economic problems in a long run rather than solving it in a shorter term which is not what New York needs. He is very confident in his solution to the economic disaster of new York, therefore I would ultimately say that his solution is better.

Paladino's website vs Cuomo's website

I think Paladino's website is much more informative than Cuomo's because  he talks about a lot of issues while Cuomo only talks about 5. Paladino explains his views on each of the issues while Cuomo was very straightfoward when talking about his five point plan. However, I thought Cuomo's website was much more attractive to the eyes of Americans. I think people will be very happy and secure knowing that Cuomo will do anything he can to let the unemployed to become employed once again. I think job security is our biggest issue and I think he's the better candiate especially considering the economic position we are in.

Paladino's ideas vs Cuomo's ideas on economics

Carl Paladino's views on the economy include cutting taxes and spending by 20 percent. He also wants the people to keep their jobs and to cut the medicaid bills back by 20 billion dollars, which will save the people 10 billion dollars (Paladino).   Paladino also plans to cut the state pension.

Andrew Cuomo's economic plan includes getting the unemployed back to work. He plans to give businesses 3,000 dollars in tax credit. He also wants to lower the costs of businesses.

I think Paladino's views on economics will be more helpful and important in the long run because I think New York can use all the help possible considering the economic disaster we are in. I think Cuomo focuses too much on one issue rather than Paladino who focuses on a lot of issues. I also think Paladino is a better speaker because he's very confident in what he says. According to the city newspaper, he appears to be very confident in his ability to speak in a debate. He said "Frankly, I don't think you have the cojones to face me and the other candidates in a open debate." I also think Cuomo won't be able to do things according to party standards. People such as Republican assembly member Joe Errigo  believe "Andrew is no stranger to crossing party lines."

paladino vs cuomo

I think Carl Paladino had a more informative website because he speaks about many important issues regarding the problems in New York. He says very important things about the major problems that are faced currently in New York. After reading each candidates mission statement i would say that Paladino is more likely to be qualified to be governor. I feel that his mission sounds more attainable because he says  on his website as quoted "New Yorkers across the State are saying, great ideas, Carl - but can you do it? My answer is an unequivocal yes. Absolutely". On his website he explains everything that he will do and how he will accomplish his goals for new York. I think he will be elected to be the governor of new York state.

MTV reliable website ?

The website MTV is a extremelly efficient website since it is not persuading readers on which candidate to vote for, but instead providing facts such as candidates biography, issue positions, and voting records. This website is made for those who unsure of which person to vote for by showing information of each candidate. MTV website is not made for those who are interested in politics since it just shows simple information about the candidates.

Rock the vote

I think this website does a good job of showing what they want to do for the people. I think knowing that there are 44 million eligible young voters[ages 18 to 29] in U.S, it should go way up then what is was since the decade started. There were only 20.1 million young voters in 2004 and there goal was to make that much higher.By 2006, there were 2 million more young voters than in 2006. Ever since 2006, they had a least a thousand young voters participating in their polls which focuses on political elections. I would  recommend this website to any young voter who is more curious about the political world.

website: declareyourself.com

I think this website is really effective because it provides every information you need in order to vote. Before voting many people have many question about how to register, how to vote, etc. This webiste gives you the answers to all these questions. This website has answers to questions such as: When is the next election?,  What Are the 4 Simple Steps of Voting?, Am I eligible to vote?, How do I register to vote? And when?, How does a political party select its nominee for the presidential election?, What are the main political parties?, In a Midterm Election, what will I be voting on? The answers to all these questions are provided on this website. This website also has a link to multimedia and the press room. I would definetly recommend this website to someone that is interested in politics. You can recieve a lot of important information about all types of elections. You will find all the answers to your questions about voting on declareyourself.com

2. They did promote the website about the election. About the website, they believe that they fight for the economy and justice. The advertisement about the election in the website was located on the top of the website under the tabs of the website. It supposed to say "register to vote".

Vote '10 websites

1. there is this website called HSAN.org. In my opinion, I thought that the website was not effective because it wasn't related about the election that accurately. Sure it has some relations about the vote but how would someone know it was related about the election? Feel free to comment.
